The Venezuelan state of Lara is not only a geographical gem, but also home to some of the most exceptional coffees in the world. This coffee is a reflection of the rich history, culture and nature that define the region.

Coffee from Lara State

Coffee from Lara boasts an unmistakable flavor profile. Thanks to the high altitude, volcanic soil and specific microclimate in the Andes Mountains, the coffee beans here acquire a unique character. Typically, it is a coffee with a soft acidity, medium body and sweet tones of honey, caramel or dried fruit. The aroma is rich, with a hint of chocolate and nuts, which gives each cup depth and sophistication.

Local farmers, often generations of coffee growers, consider coffee their life's work. Cultivation is often carried out using traditional methods, without the intensive use of chemicals, which ensures not only high quality, but also environmental friendliness.

History of Lara State

Located in the northwestern part of Venezuela, Lara State is named after General Jacinto Lara, a hero of the Venezuelan War of Independence. The region is rich in cultural traditions and natural beauty, such as vast dry savannas, deep canyons, and graceful mountains.

Lara has a long history linked to indigenous communities that lived here before the arrival of the Spanish colonizers. Local tribes, such as the Caquetíos, left their mark in the form of pottery and ritual traditions. Later, the area became an important center of Spanish colonization, which contributed to the development of agriculture, including coffee cultivation.

Cultural and natural treasures

The city of Barquisimeto, the capital of the state of Lara, is known as the "city of twilight" due to its beautiful sunsets. It is also a center of Venezuelan folk music and art. Lara's culture is rich with festivities such as the Divina Pastora procession, which attracts thousands of pilgrims.

Lara is also a place where nature and man come together harmoniously. The coffee plantations are surrounded by mountain peaks and tropical forests, which provide a home for many species of birds and other animals. The coffee from Lara literally smells and tastes like this unique landscape.

This particular lot comes from the Rivero family farm, which owns 20 hectares of land with more than 55,000 coffee bushes in the Humocaro Alto area. All picking is done manually due to the hilly terrain. Thanks to maximum control over the picking of only ripe cherries and manual sorting during processing, we can enjoy truly excellent coffee quality. After picking, the cherries are sorted in floating tanks, where unripe cherries, twigs and leaves are sorted out. The coffee beans are then shelled and sent to fermentation tanks to remove all pulp. The final stage is drying on raised beds for about 20 days.
