Located in the heart of Mbozi, Songwe, where coffee with a unique flavour profile and exceptional quality is grown, the Itumpi processing station plays a key role in processing coffee cherries from 160 farmers who are dedicated to growing coffee with the utmost care and respect for nature.
Origin and quality
The farms that supply their cherries to Itumpi are located at an altitude of 1,500-1,700 meters, providing ideal conditions for slow ripening and the development of complex flavors. The soil in this area is loamy clay – rich, loamy and fertile, which contributes to the full flavor and rich aroma of the resulting coffee.
Varieties and flavor profile
Itumpi focuses primarily on the cultivation of Bourbon derivatives (K423 and N39), which are renowned for their sweetness and balance. Thanks to the unique conditions of the Mbozi area, we can expect a rich, fruity taste in the cup with notes of red fruit, citrus and a delicate chocolate aftertaste. This coffee stands out with its soft acidity, medium body and long finish.
Traditional and sustainable production
Farmers in the area use traditional growing and harvesting methods with an emphasis on sustainability and ecological principles. Hand-picking and careful sorting of cherries ensure that only the highest quality fruit reaches the processing station. By supporting small-scale growers and emphasizing ethical business practices, Itumpi helps develop the local community and enhance the quality of its produce.
Taste coffee from Itumpi and discover the true essence of African coffee with a rich history and unique terroir!
