Jose Yovany Rodriguez started drinking coffee in 1985. Coffee was always present in his life as a hobby while he worked in different places to support himself and his family. Over time, José managed to buy a piece of land on which he started growing coffee. From the original 300 plants, he currently has a plot of land with an area of approx. 4 hectares.
By selling coffee directly, José manages to get more money for his microlots and this helps him to expand and improve his farm. His latest project is the acquisition of his own peeling machine (depulper) and solar panels, which he uses both in his house and on the farm.
A team of 10 people work to process the coffee that Jose grows. The fermentation process takes approximately 24 hours. Drying takes place in a solar dome-shaped dryer, where the coffee is dried for approximately 15 days.
