In 2006, brothers Asefa and Mulugeta Dukam founded the Daye Bensa company in Ethiopia, which is engaged in the cultivation and export of coffee. Daye Bensa owns 15 processing stations in the areas of Shantawene, Bombe and Keramo, where all the farmers in the area supply coffee and are fairly compensated for it.
This particular lot comes from a processing station in the village of Bombe (the name of the village after the Bombe mountain range), where farmers from the coffee growing areas of this mountain range at an altitude of 1,990 to 2,190 meters supply their cherries.
Every year, Daye Bensa organizes a celebration of growers. Nearly 1,000 farmers gather to celebrate their harvest. Daye Bensa always rewards the top three farmers from each of the three villages with certificates and cash prizes, rewarding them for supplying high quality cherries. In the future, Daye Benesa hopes to work with more farmers, to support women in particular, and to work with Hawassa University to help students conduct research aimed at improving the quality of coffee.
