Reko is a community that lives in the Reko mountain area of Kochere district in Yirgacheffe. The altitude here is higher – ranging from 1950 to 2150 m above sea level. The varieties grown are similar to those in other communities – a mix of Kurume, other local varieties and disease-resistant JARC varieties. However, due to the different microclimate and growing conditions, you can expect a unique flavor profile here. They then deliver their hand-picked and sorted cherries to the Aricha processing station, where they have their lots processed separately.
Aricha Washing Station
Located in a prime coffee region (less than 5 km from the town of Yirgacheffe), this processing station is within reach of several coffee communities – Aricha, Reko, Gersi, Naga Singage and Idido. The conditions for growing coffee here could not be better – the local farmers are experienced, the soil is fertile and the mountains and forests create an ideal microclimate.
Aricha was almost in a desolate state before 2018, but thanks to the financial input of Faysel Yonis and Testi Coffee, the quality of the coffee slowly began to recover. The first year was challenging, as a lot of work had to be done, but all the effort paid off. Today, Aricha is one of the most efficiently functioning Testi Coffee processing stations. The farming communities around the station no longer have to travel far to sell their coffee cherries, and they are happy to cooperate with the Aricha station. Processing takes place at the level of individual community deliveries. Thanks to this, the origin of the coffee can be traced not only at the station level, but all the way back to the communities that grow it.
