This coffee is produced by Litman Diaz Campos at his La Orquídea farm.
Litman Díaz grows premium coffee on the highlands of the Lonya Grande region, specifically in the village of Guamboya. His La Orquídea farm is located at an altitude of 1750 to 2150 m above sea level and currently covers 2 hectares devoted to coffee cultivation. He is currently preparing the establishment of a nursery with the aim of expanding production by another 2 hectares, focusing on the Geisha variety.
La Orquidea Farm, named after the orchid flower, is surrounded by vast virgin forests that serve as a source of water springs. The upper part of the property is home to diverse flora, including orchids (Peru's national plant), and fauna, such as the Andean cockatoo (Peru's national bird).
In addition to growing coffee, Mr. Litman is actively engaged in raising livestock and beekeeping. The Díaz Campos family expands its land every year and focuses on water and environmental protection in all projects. For 2024, he is planning new experiments in coffee processing, which is why we can look forward to coffees other than cleanly washed in the future.
Process
In La Orquídea, the harvest takes place from July to November.
Manual and selective picking of only ripe cherries. Fermentation takes place in the cherries for 20 hours, and after the kernels are peeled, they ferment in parchment for another 16 hours. The coffee is then slowly dried for approximately 30 days.
